L'Autunno è arrivato!

🇮🇹 L'Autunno è arrivato e anche la mia fantasia si colora e popola della sua magia.

L'aria è più frizzantina, il cielo è più azzurro e ammantato di nuvole, i colori sono più brillanti e contrastanti: rossi, blu, violetti, verdi e gialli. Il profumo che lo contraddistingue per me è la terra: muschio, legni e pioggia. Come già gli antichi notavano, i prodotti più dolci sono maturi in autunno: l'uva, i fichi, le pere, le castagne, i cachi, alcune bacche come le more; il miele è la nota che avvolge tutto. Però, nel mio immaginario è anche il rossiccio del manto di una volpe o il timido pettirosso, che cinguetta un istante e vola via.

È incredibile riuscire a disegnare uno schizzo in circa 20 minuti a mano e metterci invece un paio di ore in digitale! 😆 Il tempo che ci impiego è sicuramente dovuto alla mia poca esperienza con il disegno digitale e con le app che facilitano il mestiere di tanti illustratori. Ma sto sperimentando e quello che imparo mi piace, perciò ogni tentativo lo considero un punto di esperienza.

L'ho eseguito con la mia BAMBOO Stylus, ho tracciato a mano libera i contorni dell'immagine di una foto, per impiegare meno tempo; ho seguito i consigli del libro I-Pad per artisti: grigio chiaro, 6 px; ho scelto un formato quadrato. Poi ho catturato i colori dello sfondo prima e il tono medio del piumaggio. Infine, ho scelto diversi pennelli per gli effetti della luce - con dimensioni di 20 o 32 px massimo per le piume e 4 px per i punti-luce sui frutti, occhio e ramo. Ho posto sopra a tutto lo schizzo, mentre la foto veniva usata solo come tavolozza. Ho lavorato a livelli, dividendo: il primo per lo sfondo, il secondo, per il tono medio delle figure; il terzo per l'occhio; infine per i dettagli. Ho eliminato la foto e firmato il lavoro, unendo tutti i livelli. 

Non mi ritengo un'esperta del disegno digitale, ma essere un principiante in qualcosa ti libera da troppi pregiudizi, non pensi? 😜

🇬🇧 Autumn is here and my fantasy is colorful and magical. 

It's becoming chill outside, the sky is more blue and sometimes covered by clouds, colors are brighter and contrasting: red, blue, purple, green, yellow. The characteristic scent is ground, for me: musky, wooden, rainy.  As the ancient folks, autumn ripens the sweetest food: grapes, figs, pears, chestnuts, persimmons, and blackberries; over all, the predominant note is honey. Though, in my imaginary autumn is also the reddish fur of the fox or the shy robin, that twits a moment and then flies away. 

It's unbelievable being able to draw a sketch in nearly 20 minutes with pencil and a sheet, and otherwise take almost two hours for a digital sketch! 😆 Certainly, the amount of time spent is due to my inexperience with digital drawing and the apps that usually make easier the job of illustrator. Anyway, I am learning and I like it, therefore any challenge is an success, for me. 

I made the Robin with my Bamboo Stylus, the contours are handmade over one photo, to go faster; I followed some pieces of advice from the manual The iPad for Artists by Dani Jones: the first contour in light grey, 6 px; I chose the square frame for the picture. Then, I took up the colors of the background first and after, the shades of plumage. Eventually, I chose different painting tools for the light effects - from the dimension of 20 till 32 px max for plumage and until 4 px to draw the high-lights over the fruits, the eye and the branch. I covered the painting with the sketch, while I was using the original photo just like a palette. I worked by levels, dividing: the first level for the background, the second, for the average tone of the painting; the third, for the eye and, in the end, one for the details. I erased the photo and signed my digital work, unifying all the levels. 

I don't consider myself an expert of digital drawing, but being a beginner about something sets you free from too many prejudices, don't you think? 😜
