Ara Pacis - Ispirazioni in giro per Roma

🇮🇹 In visita all'Ara Pacis, a volte basta poco per trovare nuovi spunti. A Roma è ancora più semplice trovare qualche ispirazione. Se per molti creativi esiste la mancanza d'idee, be', al centro della Capitale c'è spesso l'eccesso. E non credere, anche questo può diventare un blocco! 😅

Non è il mio caso, perché sul quaderno degli schizzi, a volte ho il coraggio di buttare lì due linee, senza badare molto al dettaglio ma piuttosto alla sensazione di quel che ho visto.

Così è successo alla mostra virtuale  all'Ara Pacis #AraComera . Dopo aver osservato le ricolorazioni in digitale dei bassorilievi in onore dell'Imperatore Ottaviano Augusto, mi ha catturato l'idea della Cerere con in braccio due putti e tutti i simboli della ricchezza della terra, come la interpretavano i Romani. Mi ha sfiorato l'idea di poter colorare il cielo azzurro, il porpora dei papaveri e il biondo grano...

Disegnando lo schizzo, però, mi sono resa subito conto che l'affetto per quel bianco e le sue ombre ormai fa parte del mio immaginario dell'Ara Pacis. Non so perché, ma colorare il viso della dea della fertilità della terra, mi creava imbarazzo e sembrava sminuire l'origine dell'opera. Mi suggeriva quella moda di rendere a colori i vecchi film in bianco e nero, che spesso mi lasciava perplessa da piccola.

E poi, vuoi mettere l'imponenza del marmo scolpito 21 secoli fa? Inoltre con la mia fantasia, tutte quelle immagini si animano ugualmente.

Allora, il mio personale journal du Grand Tour in Roma si arricchisce di un altro disegno. E quale meglio della Dea che rende fecondo tutto il mondo?

🇬🇧 Visiting Ara Pacis in Rome is rather easy to find out new artistic inputs. And in Rome, it is simpler to get inspiration than in any other place. If many artists suffer from any good idea, here, downtown of the Capital it may happen the contrary. And even that excess could be blocking as well! 😅

Fortunately, it's not my case - on my sketchbook, sometimes I dare to draw down few pictures, caring of the feelings I get from what's around than too many details. 

It happened the same at the Ara Pacis, the digital exhibition The Ara as it was. After looking at the digital painting of the low-relieves in honor of the Emperor Octavian August, Goddess Cerere caught my eyes, with puttos and fruits in her lap. For a moment, the idea of painting blue the sky, purple the poppies and yellow the ears of wheat...

While I was sketching, though, I realized soon that my affection for that white and its shadows is part of the Ara Pacis' idea. I don't know why, but coloring the Goddess of Fertility's face was funny and it ended up as undervaluing the origin of that piece of work. It looked like when there was the trend to give colors to old, black-and-white movies, which left me perplexed. 

And then, have you considered the magnificence of the marble sculpted 21 centuries ago? Simply astonishing. Moreover, with my imagination, all those images start living the same.

Well, my own journal du Grand Tour in Rome enriches of another drawing. Which better than that Goddess who made all the world fruitful?
